There really isn't a direct mapping between them because of this, but Silver and above are probably tougher than anything in vanilla. Vanilla is in general much easier than GWO, and Casual is (very approximately) closest to Hard. GWO and vanilla use completely different scaling models, where vanilla scales differently depending on the depth of the galaxy, and increases eco much more slowly. the scaling of casual with the eco of silver, etc. Optionally you can also set FFA Chance to 0 if you never want to see more than one faction per planet, and Boss Commanders to 1 if you don't want to see more than one commander per army.Īt some point I want to overhaul the entire custom difficulty piece to be its own screen with dropdowns so that you can much more easily pick and choose from across the difficulties what bits you want e.g. You now have your chosen difficulty, but you'll only ever encounter one enemy commander per faction per planet. Deleting the tech does not revert their attack so they were basically useless for the rest of that GW.
or they don't appear to do damage to buildings anyways.

In any case, I'd like to know how the difficulties are supposed to line up compared to vanilla.ītw, the one time I picked up the Phoenix upgrade that makes them shoot at ground units, they don't appear to do any damage to ground. I don't think I'm going to be able to beat either of those unless I manage to beat one of the other nodes get lucky and get sub commander. The exposed treasure planet I have exposed is The Guardians x2 at hardcore. The boss I'm looking at is Metrarch the Machinest x2, with another skilled A.I.

difficulty? I am able to beat vanilla Hard A.I.s without issue but your mod seems to kick my ass. How does the commander threat scale compare to vanilla A.I. They all have at least 2 A.I.s and the minimum threat level is competent. I'm on the final 6 nodes on medium sized Iron difficulty GW right now and I don't think I'm going to be able to beat it. Call me a noob, but I have not been able to beat GW on anything higher than casual with your mod while I've been able to beat vanilla hard with little issue. I'm not sure how I'm supposed to beat multiple A.I.s that have similar skill to me and access to the whole tech tree.
My experience with the other lower difficulties besides casual ended up largely the same. Judging by your descriptions, I started my first attempt at silver difficulty but hit a wall about half way across the galaxy. However, I'm finding the lower difficulties too hard for my taste.
